Good food, good life!

Hyperthermia is defined as an abnormally high body temperature. Sun exposure and scorching weather can both cause hyperthermia.

As the temperature rises to unbearable levels in the summer, it is critical to understand how we can protect ourselves from it. The temperature of our bodies determines how well they can regulate heat.

During the summer, we all know that staying hydrated is the golden rule for maintaining our body temperature and the power detox of the body. Our autonomic nervous system and the hypothalamus maintain our body's normal temperature.

Still, when our body heat rises, it is referred to as heat stress, frequently caused by factors such as the foods we consume and the rise in external temperature.

So, how do we deal with heat stress? Understanding and changing our lifestyle by including some cooling foods for the body. This blog discusses foods that help lower your body temperature.

What Are The Reasons Behind Rise In Body Temperature?

Both internal and external factors can cause your body temperature to rise. Spending too much time in the sun, for example, can cause your body temperature to increase significantly. It can also rise due to strenuous exercise or increased movement during work out.

Besides, women's body heat can rise due to perimenopause and menopause, which can cause hot flashes or night sweats. Another significant but relatively uncommon reason for your body temperature to rise is the use of certain medications in several medical conditions. Some medicines may cause your body to produce excessive heat, causing your body temperature to rise.

The following are the most common causes of excessive body heat:

  • High ambient temperatures, as in a hot indoor environment with too many layers. Sweating normally helps the body deal with hot temperatures, but it can overwork your natural cooling system if it gets too hot.
  • Exposure to the sun can cause heatstroke or sunstroke. This is common if you sweat excessively to combat the heat or if your body is dehydrated and thus does not have enough water.
  • One of the most common causes of increased body heat is a microbial infection (such as from bacteria, viruses, or fungi). The natural response of our immune system to an infection is to raise our core temperature to kill the infection.
  • Inflammatory illnesses can cause fever, indicating something is wrong within the body. It necessitates an immediate consultation with a doctor.
  • Heat stress is caused by prolonged periods of intense physical activity in direct sunlight and humid weather.
  •  Oily, fried, spicy foods, high-protein foods or caffeine-laced alcohol during the summer cause heat stress.
  • Certain medications, such as opioids, antibiotics, and antihistamines, raise the body temperature.
  • Dehydration impairs the body's ability to sweat and maintain normal body temperature, as well as its ability to cool down.
